The more I thought about DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano’s recent travel schedule, congratulating her on where she has been and wondering about where she has not yet gone, the thought kept going through my head about how the Security Debrief family might be helpful to her and have some fun in the process. (I admit it – Chris Battle is my inspiration for having fun.)
So along with the editors of Security Debrief, we’ve decided to hold a small contest this week:
Tell DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano where you think she should go next. List the place/location you think she should go and include no more than two sentences explaining your reasoning. Post your answers in the Comments section below.
Please don’t be vulgar or offensive. (You know who you are, and if you have an Apple iPhone or iPad they !)
The best submission will win a prize, likely to be a Travelocity (TM) Gnome statuette, if I can find one lying around the office. The second best submission will be a t-shirt from Despair.com, which reads, “More people have read this shirt than have read your Blog.” (I was saving it as a present for Rich Cooper, but I don’t think he’d mind us giving it away.)
The first and second winners will be selected by the Whacked-Out Security Debrief Judges (WoSDJ) – mostly people who write and edit Security Debrief and whomever else we can unwittingly drag into the process.
In order to satisfy the lawyers, of course, we hereby include, and specifically incorporate by reference, the usual and necessary disclaimers about how to participate in contests so as to comply with the various laws and regulations of state, local, tribal and DC governments, and if you have any questions about them, send us a note and we will send you a written set detailing the contest rules. There is no purchase necessary to enter and the decision of the WoSDJ will be “final.”
The contest is open NOW. We will take submissions until 5:00 pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time on Friday, April 29, 2011 – a date that William and Kate will make memorable for reasons that have nothing to do with this contest.
Please participate, and let’s have some fun telling Secretary Napolitano where we think she should go! Post your answers here to enter now.
