A number of news reports have suggested that DHS is creating a new joint-forces entity, akin to DoD’s Southern Command, to address the myriad issues along the U.S. Southwestern border. Really?

As I read it, since such an entity would be outside the framework of the recently released Quadrennial Homeland Security Review, one wonders whether this is a temporary entity or one signaling other structural changes to come at DHS. One also wonders how the component leadership is reacting.

Inquiring minds want to know, as the old TV commercial used to say. In the interim, we wait and see what comes next.
