Yesterday, the George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute (HSPI) hosted John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism; and Randy Beardsworth and Dr. Michele Malvesti, the co-chairs of Presidential Study Directive-1 (PSD-1): Organizing for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism. Beardsworth, a principal with Catalyst Partners, and Dr. Malvesti were tasked by President Obama in February to perform an interagency review of ways to    strengthen the government’s ability to secure the country and how to organize the White House’s homeland security and counterrorism structure.

In his remarks at the event describing the review’s findings, Beardsworth commented that “We’re not doing away with the NSC and HSC themselves.  We took a rational approach to integrating staffs.”
