Water security expert to participate in workshop sponsored by the Center for Homeland Defense & Security
Vance Taylor, a principal with Catalyst Partners, will join other security and infrastructure experts to discuss priorities for the nation’s efforts to modernize our infrastructure at a workshop held by the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security in Monterey, California.
The event – held in Monterey, California – will focus discussion on the new Administration’s plans to devote billions of dollars for national and state infrastructure projects with the goal of stimulating the economy and creating jobs. Specifically, the NPS-CHDS workshop will focus addressing concerns that this Initiative may exacerbate known security vulnerabilities or introduce new risks into the nation’s networked infrastructure.
Taylor, who previously handled water security policy for the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) and currently serves as a consultant at Catalyst Partners, will provide his insight on this Initiative as it relates to the nation’s water infrastructure and what risks it may present for our drinking water supply.
Additional topics to be addressed at the NPS-CHDS hosted workshop – which takes place from March 16-17ths – include:
• Prioritizing improvements to the infrastructure: Is there a logical way to proceed;
• Upgrading the critical infrastructure network: Interdependency and creating strains on the system;
• Unintended consequences: Balancing public safety and homeland security considerations; and
